Sophie joins us as trainee advocate. She grew up in Rostock and studied law at the Universities of Münster and Adolfo Ibanéz in Chile, with a specialization in International and European Law. She graduated with an LL.M. from Católica Global School of Law in Lisbon. Sophie coached last year’s team of Humboldt University at the Philip C. Jessup Moot Court competition and is currently completing her legal traineeship at Kammergericht Berlin.

What was your first job?
My first job was serving Frozen Yogurt at a small café in Rostock. I ate so much of it that I could not stand the smell for years afterwards.
Breakfast or dinner?
I do not discriminate between meals.
What do you cook when you spontaneously have friends over for dinner?
Definitely some variation of a curry.
Mountains or Seaside?
Seaside all the way!
If you could meet someone famous, dead or alive, who would it be?
Maya Angelou.
Which was your favorite place to live so far?
For me, the most fascinating place I have lived in so far was Mexico City. But in terms of overall life quality, I would say Lisbon was my favorite.
Digital or analogue?
Analogue!
Favorite time of day?
Just before sunrise, especially if you know that you can go back to sleep afterwards.
Window or aisle seat?
Window.
Country you wish to visit?
India.
Good advice you’ve received?
It is not so much what you do that matters, but the intention with which you do it.
Biggest pet peeve?
Open doors in my back. It just makes me nervous.
