Wagner-Arbitration

Merhaba İremgül!

İremgül Mansur is a Turkish-qualified attorney who joins us as a Visiting Professional from the International Dispute Resolution LL.M. at Humboldt University in Berlin. She holds an LL.B. from the Turkish-German University in Istanbul. She also studied as an exchange student at the Free University of Berlin, where she worked as a research assistant.

Before starting her LL.M., İremgül gained six years of experience as an associate at the Istanbul office of an international law firm, focusing on commercial law, competition law and international dispute resolution.

İremgül is fluent in Turkish, English, and German.

We look very much forward to working with İremgül and have so many questions…

What was your first job?

When I was 5, I started a little business buying beads at the Grand Bazaar with my pocket money. I convinced my older cousin and aunt to turn them into bracelets, which I sold from a small stand in our front yard. It was a surprisingly successful and profitable venture: zero labor cost and a large family that happily purchased any leftovers. I ran the business for 2–3 summers until I lost the “purchase guarantee” support. 😄

Breakfast or dinner?

Long dinners with friends and family.

What do you cook when you spontaneously have friends over for dinner?

A spread of Turkish meze. This typically includes small plates like tarator, haydari, acılı ezme, hummus, kısır, fava, piyaz, and potato salad. If the guests are lucky and the freezer’s stocked, maybe even topik!

Mountains or Seaside?

Both. I am from Giresun, where the Black Sea meets the mountains (the land of the phoenix and the Amazon women), so I honestly cannot choose between the two.

If you could meet someone famous, dead or alive, who would it be?

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Which was your favorite place to live so far?

Berlin – in 2015.

Digital or analogue?

Digital.

Favorite time of day?

Twilight, just before sunrise.

Window or aisle seat?

Aisle, near the back.

Country you wish to visit?

All the ones I have not seen yet! Northern Europe is high on my 2025 list.

What song will always get you on the dancefloor?

Aserejé by Las Ketchup and any other pop hit from the 2000s.

Good advice you’ve received?

Just keep swimming.

Biggest pet peeve?

When people try to get on the train or bus before letting others off.

Most played on your music playlist right now?

Can’t tell- guilty pleasure! (Hint: 9/8 rhythm) 😅

Favorite (public) holiday?

New Year’s Eve.

Last new thing you learned?

Women also have stripes on their bodies, just like tigers or zebras.

Which movie can you watch over and over?

Harry Potter marathon.

Three words to describe Berlin?

Diverse, vibrant, green.

Three words to describe your hometown Giresun?

World’s best hazelnuts, birthplace of cherries, pure nature.

Night owl or early bird?

Night owl.

Favorite pizza topping?

I am a plain margherita person, maybe with a drizzle of olive oil.
