Jan Liesenfeld joins us as our newest and last trainee advocate this year beginning this month, and it is our pleasure to introduce him.
Jan studied in Hamburg at Bucerius Law School and has moved to Berlin at the end of last year to commence his legal traineeship (Referendariat).
Within the frames of his law studies, Jan spent a semester abroad studying at New York University, with an emphasis on corporate law and international law. Prior to commencing his Referendariat, he was a research assistant with the chair for civil law, trade and business law at Bucerius Law School. He has gathered first practical experiences also in a research assistant capacity with an international law firm in Düsseldorf and as arbitral secretary.
Jan is a former Willem C. Vis mootie, having participated himself as part of the Bucerius Law School team which he coached twice thereafter. Also at his alma mater, he has recently submitted his doctoral thesis on the law of obligations.
Jan is fluent in English, good at French and currently refreshing his Spanish. He leads the LGBT+ group of Bucerius Law School in Berlin and is interested in politics and philosophy.
We are happy to have him on board and look forward to his time with us!
