Batuhan Muş is a Turkish attorney and joins us from the new class of the International Dispute Resolution LL.M. at Humboldt University. After completing his LL.B. degree at Istanbul University, he practiced law for three years in Istanbul, where he specialized primarily in investment law and the law of foreigners. Throughout this time, Batuhan developed a strong foundation in cross-border legal matters and regulatory frameworks, building hands-on experience in advising international clients and navigating complex legal landscapes.

Batuhan’s introduction to arbitration came during his participation in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, where he successfully represented the Istanbul University team in 2020. This experience sparked a lasting passion for international dispute resolution and significantly shaped his academic and professional ambitions, leading him to pursue further specialization in the field through the IDR LL.M.

Outside of professional life, Batuhan enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures, is a loving husband and has two cats and one dog. He is also a licensed kickboxer, reflecting his commitment to discipline, resilience, and continuous personal development.

What was your first job?  

Office staff for an architecture firm during high school.  

Breakfast or dinner?  

Breakfast, especially in the context of slow morning with friends.  

What do you cook when you spontaneously have friends over for dinner? 

Chicken curry, which was my go-to meal throughout university.  

Mountains or Seaside?  

Seaside, especially on a sunny beach.  

Which was your favorite place to live so far? 

Istanbul. 

Digital or analogue? 

Analogue, because I think the effort makes it more valuable. 

Favorite time of day? 

Mornings, and taking a walk at a park with my dog.  

Window or aisle seat? 

Window – because my wife is afraid to sit there. 

Country you wish to visit? 

Japan. It has always been on my list and I plan to visit it this year.  

Good advice you’ve received? 

If you will not worry about it in 5 years, do not worry about it now. 

Biggest pet peeve? 

Being disturbed while eating. 

Favorite (public) holiday?  

New Year’s Day, and celebrating with family. 

Which movie can you watch over and over? 

Inglourious Basterds – especially the bar scene.  

Three words to describe your hometown Istanbul? 

Beautiful, chaotic, timeless.  

Night owl or early bird? 

Definitely early bird.

Burrata. I can eat 3 pizzas in one sitting.
