Carlotta joins us at Wagner Arbitration as an intern. She grew up in Berlin and just finished the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at Stonyhurst College in England. Carlotta has previous experiences thanks to a short Early Careers program at Linklaters. She is planning to study law in Germany.
We look very much forward to working with Carlotta and have so many questions…
What was your first job?
Working as a waitress at a restaurant in Berlin at the age of 15.
Breakfast or dinner?
I prefer dinner, as I have more time to make it and enjoy the food. Also, most of the time it is not as rushed as breakfast.
What do you cook when you spontaneously have friends over for dinner?
Some kind of pasta, depending on what ingredients I have at home.
Mountains or Seaside?
Seaside, as my Grandparents live by the Baltic Sea. It is something like my second home.
If you could meet someone famous, dead or alive, who would it be?
Tsar Alexander II, as I have studied his reign for my diploma and have many questions. Many of his decisions were somewhat contradicting themselves and I would like to know what actually motivated him to emancipate the serfs. However, my most pressing question would be what he was thinking with his policies following 1866.
Which was your favorite place to live so far?
Berlin. Otherwise I have only lived in a boarding school in the UK.
Digital or analogue?
Analogue.
Favorite time of day?
Late afternoon.
Window or aisle seat?
Window seat.
Country you wish to visit?
Botswana as a Safari destination.
What song will always get you on the dancefloor?
Probably ABBA, Dancing Queen.
Good advice you’ve received?
That small consistent habits matter more than occasional big effort.
Biggest pet peeve?
Being unnecessarily rude (to customer service or so).
Most played on your music playlist right now?
Dexys Midnights Runners, Come on Eileen.
Favorite (public) holiday?
Eastern, as the weather is getting better, spring is there or at least coming and from Easter Sunday onwards you have a very positive and joyful celebration.
Last new thing you learned?
I learned to weld metal in South Africa, though I did not particularly enjoy it as it hurts quite quickly in your eyes.
Which movie can you watch over and over?
I do not watch many movies, but Little Women is a movie I can watch multiple times.
Three words to describe UK?
Traditional, proud, global.
Three words to describe your hometown Berlin?
Diverse, historic, energetic.
Night owl or early bird?
Definitely a night owl.
Favorite pizza topping?
I like to keep it simple, but if I add something it is usually just a mix of vegetables.
