After wrapping up her University studies and the first state examination, Valeska went abroad to Washington, D.C. for an LL.M. in International Legal Studies at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/\">Georgetown University Law Center<\/a>, which she completed in 2018. While in the U<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">S<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, Valeska worked for over a year for a renowned D.C. law firm in the areas of commercial criminal law and international criminal law.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Upon returning from the US in 2019,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">she<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> began her traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Berlin (Kammergericht Berlin). She is particularly interested in matters of international criminal <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">law\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and humanitarian law, which is why she has done the administrative stage of her traineeship in the legal department of the German Federal Ministry of Defense<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">She\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is particularly interested in understanding social,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cultural,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and historical dynamics that lead up to today\u2019s conflicts.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Valeska spent part of her childhood in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Paris and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0speaks native French and German as well as fluent English. She is a passionate\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">traveler<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0of the world\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0also<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0loves exploring the music and art scene of her hometown, Berlin.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Sophie Eichhorn<\/h3>\n<p>Sophie<span data-contrast=\"auto\"> studied law at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni-heidelberg.de\/de\">University of Heidelberg<\/a>, the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uniroma3.it\/en\/\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Universit\u00e0\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">degli<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Studi<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Roma Tre in Rome and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hu-berlin.de\/en?set_language=en\">HU in Berlin<\/a>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In Heidelberg, Sophie was a student assistant at the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpil.de\/en\/pub\/news.cfm\">Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law<\/a> and participated in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court in 2013. She also undertook various internships, including with the German Marshall Fund of the United States in D.C., the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) in Rome, and with a large German law firm in Berlin. Prior to her two-year legal traineeship, Sophie worked for a member of the Bundestag.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">She partly grew up in the US<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, living in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Washington, D.C.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for nine years<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, where she also obtained her high-school diploma. She still feels very connected to the \u201cland of the free\u201d and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">continues to celebrate<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0the 4th of July and Thanksgiving with family and friends.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Fionn Richter<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/fionn-richter-00ba191b1\/\">Fionn<\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> studied law at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fu-berlin.de\/en\/index.html\">Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin<\/a> with specialization in corporate and tax law,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">completing his first state examination thereafter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Being born to a German mother and an Irish father, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Fionn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> is a passionate European and an active member of the Irish community in Germany. He also has special ties to Spanish-speaking countries and Latin America in particular. While studying law, he participated in exchange programs at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esade.edu\/en\/about-us\/academic-units\/law-school\">ESADE Law School<\/a> in Barcelona and at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uba.ar\/internacionales\/index.php?lang=en\">Universidad de Buenos Aires<\/a> in Argentina. Before that, he worked as a teacher of German language at local schools in Nueva\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Helvecia<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, Uruguay and in Moreno, Argentina (Buenos Aires province). During his law studies,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Fionn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> completed internships in the corporate and tax practice of an international law firm in Berlin and in the international tax practice of a law firm in Buenos Aires.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Before the Covid-19 outbreak,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Fionn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0had planned to do this part of his traineeship in the arbitration and dispute resolution practice of an international law firm in Mexico City. As circumstances changed\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in the meantime, and he wanted to delve deeper into the world of arbitration, he decided to join us at WagArb instead.\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Fionn\u2019s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0native languages include English and German, and he also speaks fluent Spanish.
