Wagner-Arbitration

🎙️Second #Wendegeschichten fireside chat at #WagArb

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of hosting our second Wendegeschichten event.

Philipp engaged in a lively conversation with two wonderful guests: Anne K. Hoffmann and Dr. Ramona Schardt, LL.M. (UVA), both born and raised in the GDR.

The evening began with a captivating look into their childhoods and their firsthand experiences of the historic night of November 9, 1989, and the subsequent changes that followed. Anne and Ramona shared the key decisions and considerations that led them to study law in a new system, reflecting on how the political shifts influenced their lives and those of their parents.

The discussion then moved on to the enduring values they carried from their childhood in the GDR, their sense of German identity, and how their origins shaped their international education, careers, and professional lives.

Following the engaging dialogue between Anne, Ramona, and Philipp, the floor was opened to the audience for questions and comments. This sparked a rich exchange of ideas and impressions, with diverse contributions from all participants.

To wrap up the evening, everyone mingled and shared their thoughts and observations over a glass of wine and various Mezze in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Anne and Ramona for sharing their insights and stories. We eagerly anticipate the next Wendegeschichten evening in September, featuring Rolf Trittmann and Christof Elssner!
