Julian Bickmann was the first new hire at WagArb shortly after the little boat had set sails on the great ocean of international dispute resolution in 2013. He joined as a student intern back then and stayed on as research assistant until he graduated from law school. He was the first living proof that good work follows good people and thereby in a way paved the road for everyone else who followed.

After completing his legal training across different continents, including his second home, Brazil, Julian returned as a part-time lawyer while writing his doctorate thesis in international arbitration. Amidst all this, he also started a beautiful family with his Brazilian wife.

Step by step, Julian transitioned to full-time work in 2021, while expanding his family to five and completing his thesis. How did he manage to do all this with excellence, a perpetual smile, and always ready to play ball? It is his remarkable ability to stay laser-focused while embracing life to the fullest – a true Colognian one could say, or perhaps a German with a good touch of Brazil.
