20 Years in Practice – Reflexion #8: The Balance that Matters Most

Since 2011, I hold my wonderful twins close to my heart – back then, quite literally.

The birth of my children shifted perspectives profoundly. My children were not even two years old when I started WAGNER Arbitration in 2013. Balancing an international arbitration practice with the needs of a young family was – and still is – a challenge. But it is also the most rewarding one.

It forced me to rethink priorities, to embrace flexibility, and to recognize that a thriving family life and a demanding legal career can be merged.

To those in the legal profession who are navigating similar paths: as you all know, there is no “one-size-fits-all” model. But there are always ways to integrate – rather than separate – work and family. And that integration can become a source of strength, resilience, and creativity.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without my partner — whose steady support and patience created the space for me to grow as both a lawyer and a father. I am also deeply grateful to the many people who helped along the way, especially in those early, intense years. 🙏 Prof. Dr. Hans-Eric Rasmussen-Bonne Katharina Meyer Andy Meyer Gustav Flecke-Giammarco Alma Forgó Florian Jehle Felix Lüth
