Wagner-Arbitration

Ain’t no mountain high enough…

… we thought a little over a year ago when we submitted our reasoned proposal to the German Federal Ministry of Justic to permit Kosovo-admitted lawyers to become members of German bar associations pursuant to § 206 Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (BRAO).

Various follow-up correspondence, calls, a legal opinion on statutes of professional conduct and multiple certified translations of Kosovo laws and statutes later, we are happy to share that as of last week, lawyers admitted in Kosovo are finally part of the annex to § 206 BRAO. They can now become members of German bar associations and carry their professional title Avokat in Germany pursuant to a governmental decree issued by the Federal Ministry of Justice on 7 August 2023.

We are most grateful to everyone who supported this cause!

As you may know, we are closely connected to Kosovo through our dear colleague Petrit Elshani, who for the first time five years ago took some of us to his home country – which included a hiking tour in Rugova.
