Last week was the kickoff event of our #Wendegeschichten series.
Leslie Colitt took us on journey from the beginnings of the separation of Germany and of Berlin through the Cold War period to the peaceful demonstrations for change in the GDR and the famous press conference with Günter Schabowski which led to the opening of the borders and to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
He witnessed all this and much more from the perspective of an American journalist who observed and reported on the developments in Eastern Europe and its people in the second half of the last century with great interest and empathy.
