Florian Dupuy advises clients in all matters of international arbitration and public international law, as well as French commercial law. Florian is admitted to the Paris Bar (Avocat à la Cour) and is a member of the Berlin Bar.
As the head of the firm’s investment arbitration practice, he has represented both States and investors in high-stakes disputes involving States like China, Latvia, Kosovo and Albania. His experience covers a variety of economic sectors, ranging from energy, real estate, tourism, press distribution, transportation and food production. Drawing from his vast experience in France, Switzerland, and Germany, Florian offers strategic guidance and representation, ensuring his clients’ interests are zealously protected.
Florian has gained considerable practical experience in the field of international arbitration with several major law firms in Paris and Geneva, before joining WAGNER Arbitration in 2014. Collaborating with international arbitrator Prof. Pierre-Marie Dupuy has further enriched his knowledge and contributed to his comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of international law.

Florian has a rich academic background spanning the UK (Cambridge, B.A.), France (Paris II Panthéon-Assas, Maîtrise en Droit), and Germany (Humboldt University Berlin, LL.M.). He also holds a doctorate degree from the University Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. He thus brings a global perspective to his practice, nurturing a comprehensive knowledge of multiple legal frameworks.
Florian’s doctorate thesis published in 2008 pioneered the field of international investment law by exploring the uncharted territory of the protection of investors’ legitimate expectations (“The Legitimate Expectations of the Parties in International Investment Law and Comparative Contract Law”). He has also published on other issues mainly related to investment law and international law.
Beyond the realm of law, Florian is known for his passion for music. As a skilled double bass player and founder of the Berlin-based White Noise Trio, he embraces the improvisational spirit of jazz, creating harmonies on both the legal stage and the band stand. The trio unveiled their inaugural albums in 2017 and 2019, captivating audiences throughout Germany during their 2018 tour, which was backed by the firm. Through the interplay of rhythm, melody and innovation, Florian finds inspiration and creativity that enriches his legal approach.
