Wagner-Arbitration

Seja bem-vinda, Carolina!

Carolina is a Brazilian-licensed attorney, currently pursuing an LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, where she is deepening her knowledge in international arbitration, international investment arbitration, and private international law.

With more than four years of extensive experience across both the private and public sector, primarily focusing on arbitration, civil, family, and succession law, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of complex legal proceedings.

Carolina is deeply passionate about international engagement. Her educational journey, from high school to postgraduate studies, has been defined by a profound appreciation for multiculturalism and global exposure, leading her to reside in four different countries in addition to her home in Brazil – Canada, US, Vietnam, and now Germany.

Carolina speaks Portuguese, English, and German.

We look very much forward to working with Carolina and have so many questions…

What was your first job?

My first job was as an intern at a First Instance Court in Brazil, working with a civil judge. I started this role in the beginning of my second year of university. It was a great opportunity to gain an overview of legal proceedings.

Breakfast or dinner?

Breakfast – I adore my healthy morning bowls!

What do you cook when you spontaneously have friends over for dinner?

People close to me know I’m not much of a cook, but during wintertime, I do enjoy making soups for dinner. In summertime, I really enjoy serving a good Hawaiian poke bowl. Sorry to disappoint (or not)!

Mountains or Seaside?

I grew up going very often to the beach, so seaside.

If you could meet someone famous, dead or alive, who would it be?

bell hooks. I was profoundly impacted by her books!

Which was your favorite place to live so far?

Berlin… I absolutely love my LL.M. experience here, from the subject I’ve been studying to the people I’ve met and the diverse mix of cultures the city offers. Plus, it’s such a green city with countless things to do – can’t wait for summertime!

Digital or analogue?

Digital. My next item on my wish list is an apple watch.

Favorite time of day?

Mornings – I feel when I manage to wake up early, it sets a positive tone for the day!

Window or aisle seat?

Definitely window!

Country you wish to visit?

Hard to choose one… I would say Greece, Turkey, and Kenya!

What song will always get you on the dancefloor?

That’s a tough question with so many great options, but if I had to pick one, I’d say “Whenever, Wherever” by Shakira.

Good advice you’ve received?

‘When wrestling with your mind, use your body.’ This essentially means that when you’re facing mental challenges like anxiety, getting moving with physical activities such as running can be beneficial, rather than attempting to control the anxiety solely with your mind. I came across this insight in a podcast called ‘Huberman Lab’ — it’s an excellent podcast, highly recommended!

Biggest pet peeve?

People whispering in libraries – can’t stand it!

Most played on your music playlist right now?

Right now it is a playlist called “jazz for study”. In my exam period, I enjoy studying while listening to instrumental jazz music.

Favorite (public) holiday?

I come from Brazil, so… Definitely, Carnaval!

Last new thing you learned?

How to cut my own bangs!

Which movie can you watch over and over?

Bohemian Rhapsody! I get goosebumps every time I watch it.

Three words to describe Berlin?

Multicultural, vibrant, and historic.

Three words to describe your hometown São José dos Campos?

Well-located, calm, and progressive.

Night owl or early bird?

Early bird – I love my mornings!

Favorite pizza topping?

Parma ham and rucola, with truffle oil.
